TOKYO: Japan’s two-times figure skating world champ and three-times Olympic medallist Shoma Uno stated on Thursday he is retiring from competitors.

Uno, 26, won a 2nd successive world title in 2015 regardless of suffering an ankle injury.

“My skating life began when I was 5, and I am extremely grateful that I had the ability to continue for 21 years and lead a great life in competitors,” the Nagoya native composed on Instagram.

Uno, who was born too soon weighing simply 900 grams, was the world’s very first skater to effectively land a quadruple turn in competitors. He declared the males’s songs bronze medal at the 2022 Olympic Games in Beijing.
