BURNABY, British Columbia– If a reasonable cumulative contract is not reached before January 22, Lower Mainland transit managers will be intensifying their strike, successfully closing down all bus services. CUPE 4500, the union representing over 180 transit managers with Coast Mountain Bus Company, stated if there is no arrangement that deals with wage disparities and work problems, union members will withdraw all services next Monday early morning.
“CUPE 4500 has actually been waiting over 4 weeks for Coast Mountain to react to our most current proposition. Our persistence for Coast Mountain to take bargaining and our problems seriously has actually been tired,” stated CUPE 4500 representative Liam O’Neill at an interview today in Burnaby. “Our members are worthy of a reasonable offer.”
