Why was one of the biggest law podcasts shut down?

Prior to the vacations, Law360 canceled its long-running and well-regarded podcast Pro Saymuch to the surprise of individuals in law and legal media. Pro Saywhich debuted in 2017, was thought about among the leading legal news podcasts on the marketplace and was especially popular amongst legal representatives and law trainees. It even had its Hollywood minute in 2022 when the titular character of Disney Plus’ She-Hulk: Attorney at Law was revealed listening to the podcast.

The choice to cut the program came, apparently, out of no place. Pro Say co-host and Law360 senior press reporter Alex Lawson informed Hot Pod that the group was alerted just 2 days before they tape-recorded the program’s last episode, which released on December 21st. According to senior manufacturer Steven Trader, the program had not experienced a decrease in listenership or any other missteps that normally precede a cancellation. A lot more confusingly, just 10 days prior, the Pro Say group had actually offered a discussion– at the demand of management– for staffers on how to pitch the program.

Pro Say was a departure from Law360‘s typical design. Almost all of the work produced by the legal publication, which is owned by legal details and analytics business LexisNexis, which remains in turn owned by basic organization analytics business RELX, lags a (extremely high) paywall. For 7 years, just how much or little the podcast produced didn’t matter. The weekly program was a side gig for staffers who produced journalism that went behind the paywall. Trader stated just in 2022 did the program look for to seriously pursue analytics and advertisements when it began releasing with Megaphone. And even then, no one in management was pestering the group about downloads or advertisement sales.
