Beginning life as an affordable trainee design, the Mustang galloped out of the class and directly into the hands of ’90s alt-rock heroes, sealing itself as the poster kid of the grunge motion.
Turning our attention to the current Mustang offering from Fender, and we are welcomed with a guitar that appears like it showed up here in a DeLorean.
Fender has once again nailed the ’70s visual here– the vintage patina of the neck, the retro ‘F’-stamped device heads with aged white buttons, and the period-correct black and gold decal all result in a rather authentic-looking electrical guitar .
Just like the Jaguar in the Vintera II seriesthis design includes a 24″ maple neck with C profile– although this time, it’s based upon earlier examples– along with the familiar 7.25″ radius fingerboard and vintage-tall stresses.
If you’ve never ever had the happiness of playing a short-scale Fender, we ‘d extremely advise looking for one out, as they are a great deal of enjoyable– and this one is no various. The much shorter nature of the neck leads to a far more flexible feel to the strings and once-impossible bends are now an overall breeze.
Once again, like the Jag, the construct quality here is first-class. The hardware feels robust, the tremolo system is as smooth as you like and the device heads are completely responsive.
The tonal heart of this mini balanced out is a set of vintage-inspired ’70s single-coil pickups and they sound great.
Pleasant, stylish and loaded with information, these pickups make certain to cover a great deal of musical ground. Whether it’s tidy chords or aggressive fuzzed-out solos, this Mustang takes it all in its stride.
