A multi-agency investigation is now underway involving the Regina Police Service (RPS), RFPS and the Saskatchewan Coroners Service.

“At this time, Fire Investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire,” an RPS news release said. “In addition to providing traffic control and providing assistance to those affected by the fire, officers secured the scene and will remain on site until the investigation is complete.”

This is the second fatal fire in Regina this month. Two people were also found dead after a house fire in North Central on Dec. 9.

RPS had arrived at a residence that was entirely engulfed by flames on the 800 block of Rae Street around 8:30 a.m. that day. Two residents were found outside with minor injuries. Crews were able to get the two others out of the blazing home but they were pronounced dead on scene.

The Leader-Post has no information that the two fires are connected in any way.
