Thompsons of Prudhoe doubles in two years

Thompsons of Prudhoe Holdings Ltd turned over ₤ 82.7 m in the year to 31st March 2023 (2022: ₤ 69.7 m) and made a pre-tax earnings of ₤ 18.2 m (2022: ₤ 6.9 m).

That 18% development in group turnover in 2015 began the back of 76% development the previous year. In financial 2021 group turnover was simply ₤ 39.5 m.

“There’s no rejecting we’ve had an unbelievable 24 months within our organization,” stated handling director Nick Shilling, “which is testimony to the accomplishments of our group and the assistance of our customers and larger supply chain.”

He stated that much of the earnings was being reinvested into business. Investments consist of ₤ 10m on 2 cleaning plants for quarries at Springwell in Gateshead and Anick Grange in Northumberland, the acquisition of Lakeland Minerals Ltd with its sand and gravel quarry in Cumbria and an ongoing financial investment upgrading its 86-strong fleet of wagons and 160-strong plant and equipment.

Work is under method at the Anick Grange sand and gravel pit, with financial investment to perform bunding, roadway broadening works and develop a brand-new well-being system.

Thompsons of Prudhoe Holdings consists of the core demolition organization Thompsons of Prudhoe Ltd together with W&M Thompson (Quarries), Tyneside Minimix (Concreteand Thompsons Asbestos Solutions.

Thompsons of Prudhoe Ltd represented ₤ 73.0 m of the ₤ 82.7 m group turnover in 2015.
