Selena Gomez hints at retirement from music after one last album

Selena Gomez has been one of the most well-known and financially successful female pop stars in the music industry for the past 15 years. She just seems to get bigger and bigger with every new era, but it’s possible that she won’t be singing for very long. The singer recently acknowledged in an interview that she is considering retiring and that it might happen sooner than most people had thought.

Selena Gomez to retire after releasing one more album? 

During her appearance on an episode of the Smartless podcast with Jason Bateman, Sean Hayes, and Will Arnett, Gomez opened up about finding a niche in the entertainment industry. The singer said, “I started having a lot of fun with music and then touring was really fun. But I was doing my TV show at the same time[[Wizards of Waverly Place]and I just found it really fun so I just kept going but the older I get, the more I’m kind of like, I would like to find something to just settle on.”

She mentioned that she has done acting, singing, and is currently the CEO of her own cosmetics line, Rare Beauty. Although Gomez “feels like I have one more album in me,” she admitted to the hosts that, in an ideal world, she “would probably choose acting.” While the group complimented her musical skills and pointed out that she shouldn’t be forced to pick a lane, she shot back, “You’re right, but I am going to want to chill because I’m tired.” 

Selena Gomez’s retirement plans 

Gomez’s acting career has recently taken off even more, as her performance in Hulu’s Only Murders In The Building has earned her two Golden Globe nominations for best performance by an actress in a comedy or musical television series in 2023 and 2024.

In a previous interview, Gomez revealed her retirement plans. Despite her past jokes about never wanting to get married, the singer actually wanted to get married. Though she doesn’t necessarily see it as a top priority, she believes she will eventually want it.

She said, “I hope to be married and to be a mom. Eventually, I’m going to be tired of all of this, so I’m probably just going to devote most of my life to philanthropy before I peace out.”
