Nigerian Military Aiding Terrorism on Christians in Plateau State – CAN Chairman

In a recent and alarming development tinged with accusations of terrorism in Plateau State, Nigeria, Rev Timothy Daluk, the Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Mangu Local Government Area, has leveled serious accusations against the Nigerian military.

He claims that the military is working in collusion with Fulani militias to target Christian communities in Plateau State, exacerbating the already volatile situation marked by terrorism and communal strife.

Allegations of Military Complicity

In a candid video that has since gained traction on social media, Mr. Daluk alleges that the military is actively displacing Christians and enabling militias to destroy their homes.

The military is not only neglecting their duty to protect Christian communities but is actively participating in their displacement,” he stated, adding a disturbing dimension to the crisis.

Curfews and Suppression

Daluk asserts that curfews are being selectively imposed in areas predominantly inhabited by Christians, further crippling their ability to defend themselves.

While our communities are being restricted by curfews, it seems there’s a free pass for aggressors to continue their onslaught,” he claimed.

This selective enforcement, according to him, indicates a bias and a failure of the military to provide equal protection.

Rising Tensions and Government Response

The CAN Chairman pointed to recent incidents, including the burning of mosques and loss of lives, as evidence of escalating tensions.

He expressed his disappointment with the government’s response, emphasizing that the situation in Mangu is deteriorating rapidly under the current military oversight.

What we are witnessing is not protection but persecution,” Daluk argued.

Call for Self-Defense

Faced with what he describes as the military’s indifference, Mr. Daluk announced a call to organize Christians in Mangu for self-defense.

If the military cannot protect us, we have no choice but to protect ourselves,” he stated, signaling a desperate measure in response to the crisis.

A Call for Urgent Intervention

The situation in Plateau State and the alleged involvement of the military, as described by Rev Timothy Daluk, highlights the complex challenges of terrorism and communal violence in Nigeria.

The allegations of military complicity in the attacks against Christian communities, if true, represent a serious breach of trust and necessitate immediate investigation and intervention.

This situation demands urgent attention from both the Nigerian government and the international community to restore peace, ensure justice, and prevent further atrocities in the region.
