Melissa Barrera feels a sense of closure with her Scream character Sam in spite of being released from the franchise.
The In the Heights starlet, who starred as Sam Carpenter in the 5th and 6th Scream movies, was fired from Scream VII in November after the studio considered a few of her pro-Palestine social networks posts to be antisemitic.
While she will not get to finish Sam’s story with the seventh instalment, Barrera feels a sense of closure with her character’s arc.
“I feel I’ve gotten closure, yeah, my head is clear,” she stated on Collider’s Ladies Night podcast. “I seem like the ending of (Scream) 6 was an excellent ending therefore I do not seem like, ‘Urgh, I got left in the middle of a (cliffhanger).’
“I believe the fans were desiring a 3rd motion picture to sort of continue that arc and obviously the strategy was a trilogy, although I was just contracted for 2 motion pictures, so I did my 2 motion pictures and I’m great. I’m great with that. I got 2, that’s more than the majority of people get.”
The Abigail starlet included that there is no usage concentrating on what has actually currently occurred so she is “currently on the next chapter” of her profession.
“You can’t harp on things, you’ve got ta carry on, that’s the nature of this market too,” she continued. “I did what I set out to do – it was constantly implied to be 2 motion pictures for me ’cause that was my agreement – therefore whatever is best.
