Omid Scobie has hit out at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s coverage of their new website launch after the couple were savaged for using their royal titles and crest.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex launched Sussex.com on Monday night as a “one-stop shop” for all of their activities.

The new website features blossoming biographies for Harry and Meghan, as well as the latest news about the pair, including attendance at events.

Critics have savaged the couple for using their royal links four years after they stepped down as senior working royals.

Branded by many as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s “mouthpiece” for his favourable coverage of the pair, journalist and author Omid Scobie took to social media to blast the coverage as well as criticism after the couple’s latest move.

The fact that a fairly simple homepage has spawned dozens of moaning op-eds, and furious pearl clutching from commentators, proves that many here literally have nothing better to do. Move on! Touch grass. Find an interesting story. This is all so tediously boring

It comes as royal fans also jumped on the bandwagon to criticise the couple for clinging on to their royal titles.

One user wrote on X: “They don’t live in the country these titles are a part of. They don’t work/represent the British Royal Family in anything they do. They slag off institution titles belong to. These two will just not give up their title usage as it shows they need it… obviously just ‘Harry and Meghan’ has no clout.”

A second one added: “Yup. They are forcing their way back into the fold.”

Lastly, a third one blasted: “Harry and Meghan are still branding themselves as ‘the Sussexes’. They abandoned their duty to this country, insulted our people and history, mocked out traditions and undermined our monarchy. The brass to keep parasitising off this title!(Sic)”

Harry and Meghan’s new website links to their Archewell Foundation and Archewell Productions, as well as their old website – Sussex Royal – that they launched when they quit their royal duties back in 2020.

Harry is described as a “humanitarian, military veteran, mental health advocate, and environmental campaigner”, whereas Meghan is labelled a “feminist and champion of human rights and gender equity.”
