STATING “a more powerful Mindanao suggests a more powerful Philippines,” President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Thursday contacted the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) not to permit “forces beyond the democratic procedure to deviate our dreams and our goals.” The President’s declaration came amidst the call of his predecessor, Rodrigo Duterte, for Mindanao to withdraw from the remainder of the Philippines and end up being an independent state.

In his speech at the 17th Meeting of the National Government-Bangsamoro Government Intergovernmental Relations Body (IGRB) at the Philippine International Convention Center in Pasay City, the President restated his administration’s assistance to the Bangsamoro peace procedure.
