A suspicious death investigation has begun after a body was found inside a Pacific Heights home during a police incident on Saturday morning when a man was shot by a Saskatoon police officer.

A suspicious death investigation has begun after a body was found inside a Pacific Heights home during a police incident on Saturday when a man was shot by a Saskatoon Police Service (SPS) officer.

SPS said in a news release that police were executing a search warrant related to an aggravated assault investigation involving firearms at an address in the 600 block of Lisgar Avenue around 2:30 a.m. on Feb. 3 when the 34-year-old man was shot. He taken to hospital with a gunshot wound and was in stable condition, police said. Two women were also arrested.

Saskatoon’s major crimes unit is investigating the death, while Saskatchewan’s Serious Incident Response Team (SIRT) is investigating the officer-involved shooting.

Police asked people avoid the Lisgar Avenue area and traffic was still restricted in the area on Saturday.

Police said any further details about the officer-involved shooting would be provided by SIRT.
