M. Night Shyamalan is the king of the twist and, in the very first trailer for his brand-new film Trap, the twist is ideal on the surface area.

Starring Josh Hartnett, Trap opens August 9. It follows a dad and child who go to the performance of a popular pop star (played by the director’s child Saleka) when Dad notifications something is incorrect. There are a great deal of cops around. Too numerous. Quickly, he learns, the entire show is a trap. From there, well, the trailer can reveal you. Examine it out.

Yup. The twist this time around is that the primary character, played by Josh Hartnett, is the serial killer this show has actually been established to catch. Which is intriguing for an entire lot of factors. The primary one is, does the movie desire us to see him get captured? Does it paint him as the bad guy he plainly is? Are we rooting versus him? If so, how does that work? If not, what does that state about us and the movie?

At CinemaCon recently, where Shyamalan initially exposed the trailer, he stated the preliminary concept for the movie was to offer audiences that stunning, common sensation of going to a show. Whatever else established from there. We’re extremely curious to see how this film balances all of these threads.

We’ll learn earlier instead of later on as Trap will be out August 9.
