King Saud University Wins 2 Asian Awards in Field of Healthcare

The Medical City at King Saud University achieved two awards for the Best Saudi Hospital for the Year 2024,

The Medical City at King Saud University achieved two awards for the Best Saudi Hospital for the Year 2024, and the Best Initiative for Facilities Improvement and Building Management “Green Hospitals” within the “Asia Healthcare Awards 2024”.

The Executive Director General of the University’s Medical City, Dr. Ahmed Al-Harsi, received the two awards during the celebration held in Singapore, organized by Asia Healthcare Magazine.

The event held annually to honor hospitals with exceptional and distinguished performance at the level of Asia.

Dr. Al-Harsi explained that the University Medical City has provided many initiatives that contribute to enhancing health care services, noting that the total clinical capacity in the Medical City at King Saud University amounts to 1,800 beds, and it includes 3 hospitals. Furthermore, University Dentistry holds the Guinness World Record as the largest dental hospital in the world in terms of area.

He mentioned that University Medical City comprises two university centers: the University Center for Oncology and the Center for Health Skills and Simulation, along with 9 centers. These include the King Fahad Center for Cardiac Medicine and Surgery, the University Family Medicine Center, the University Diabetes Center and the National Center for Sudden Death “Hayat”. The latter aims to study and treat the causes of sudden death in the Kingdom. It is staffed by highly experienced medical personnel and equipped with advanced medical devices and technologies for delicate operations.

Dr. Al-Harsi noted that University Medical City holds numerous local and international accreditations, including those from the Saudi Center for Health Facilities (CBAHI), Canadian International Accreditation, the American Heart Association, the American College of Surgeons and the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties.

He also highlighted that King Saud University Medical City leads the healthcare sector in the Kingdom according to the SIGMACO classification. Furthermore, it embraces eco-friendly and cost-effective energy alternatives by installing solar panels at King Abdulaziz University Hospital.
