JUST IN: Tinubu Appoints Hafsat Bakari As Director/CEO Of NFIU
President Bola Tinubu has actually authorized the visit of Hafsat Abubakar Bakari to act as the Director/Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU), pending her verification by the Senate.

Way of life Nigeria reports that Bakari’s visit was validated in a declaration signed on Tuesday by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale.

Bakari is an attorney and monetary intelligence professional with years of experience in anti-money laundering, counter-terrorism funding, and counter-proliferation funding (AML/CFT/CPF).

Before her visit as the Chief Executive Officer of the NFIU, she acted as Deputy Director at the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit, and was at various times the Head of the General Services Unit; Head of the Strategy and Reorientation Unit, and Head of the Board Secretariat of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The President expects that Bakare will bring her wealth of experience and competence to complete discharge in this important function, particularly in view of his administration’s war versus illegal monetary circulations and other sharp practices presently common in sections of the country’s forex markets.
