Ben Shephard is loved by TV viewers in his new role as presenter of This Morning alongside Cat Deeley.
Before that, he hosted Good Morning Britain for many years alongside stars including Kate Garraway and Susanna Reid, before quitting in late February, as the team fought back tears.
But although fans see 49 year old Ben, who also hosts quiz show Tipping Point, in their living rooms nearly every day, it’s rare to get an insight into Ben’s family life with his wife Annie and teen sons, Sam and Jack. It’s something he keeps notoriously private, although he did once admit that Annie was ‘annoyed’ over his relationship with his mum.
But on his 47th birthday in December 2021, Ben shared a heartwarming photo of him walking with his sons two teenage sons. The TV presenter looked dapper in a blazer and grey scarf as he wrapped his arms around his sons while they strolled through London.
Ben, who tied the knot with his wife Annie in 2004, said at the time that he’d had a ‘very special day with the family’.
He wrote alongside the photo: “So just wanted to say thank you for all the really lovely birthday messages. I had a great day can’t believe I’ve had 47 of them! ? ! ? How did that happen? Very special day with the family, the only benefit of these two getting way bigger than me, is they can hold me up too! !”
Back in the summer of 2021, Ben had to undergo surgery after he ended up rupturing his ACL and tearing the meniscus in his knee.
He opened up about the unfortunate injury, which happened while he was playing in the final of the Arthur Dunn Veterans’ Cup.
Alongside a photo of his bandaged leg, Ben wrote: “Op happens today! ! so far so good – arrow on the correct leg [nervous emoji] @andipeters on the tv + super stylish socks in place”.
Later on, he uploaded a video, clad in a white hospital gown, thanking everyone for their lovely messages, saying: “Hi there, everybody. Thank you for all the amazing lovely messages.”
He told his followers: “For those that didn’t know I ruptured my ACL and tore my meniscus in my knee playing football.”
Ben then pointed the camera towards his bandaged knee, showing how it looked post-surgery. The TV star added, “That’s how it looks at the moment.”
