If Misplaced Priorities Was A Person – Adwoa Safo Dragged After Claiming The National Pledge Is ‘Gender Insensitive’

Member of Parliament for Dome Kwabenya, Sarah Adwoa Safo, has gotten her head on the social media chopping block after proposing a change to the national pledge.

Speaking in Parliament Tuesday, February 6th 2024, Adwoa Safo said that the phrase ‘toil of our fathers’ in the national pledge was exclusionary and should be changed.

Safo said we refer to Ghana as our ‘motherland’ but in the pledge we only speak of the toil of our forefathers and omit the mothers.

According to her, we need to take a look at that and change the language to include women.

Social media users dragged Adwoa Safo mercilessly for her comments.

“If Misplaced priorities was a person, no one could do it better than this woman,” one netizen said.

Another added: “Misguided, waste of time, nonsense, nothing to prioritise in the entire agenda set before parliament than a non existing matter?”
