Giffgaff shoppers snapping up iPhone 15 that’s £300 cheaper than O2 and Sky Mobile

Giffgaff shoppers snapping up iPhone 15 that’s £300 cheaper than O2 and Sky Mobile

As household bills continue to rise, finding the cheapest phone plan is high on my priorities to reduce my outgoings as much as possible. Luckily, I managed to save a whopping £344 on an iPhone 15 with unlimited data by switching providers at checkout.

If you’re on the lookout for the cheapest mobile deal, whether its a bargain contract that’s too good to miss, or a handy SIM-only package, it is always worth checking the small print for any hidden price increases. And if you’ve been looking to upgrade your current iPhone, or want to switch over from a Samsung or android phone, you might want checkout Giffgaff.

The British mobile phone network provider has reduced the price of the iPhone 15 by a massive £160, bringing it down to just £679, compared to £799 at Apple, as the Wales Online reports. The rest of the savings come when you choose a specific amount of data to go with your new phone.

Thanks to Giffgaff’s special offer on its unlimited data contract, keen iPhone users can snap it up for a much cheaper £25 a month if they sign up for an 18-month plan. This means you can get an iPhone 15 with unlimited data for only £52.46 a month – much cheaper than deals from O2 and Sky Mobile.

This works out at £27.46 a month for the iPhone 15 on a 24-month contract, while the data costs £25 a month on an 18-month contract. Of course, you also have the option to pay upfront for the lower £679 price and just add the data on top, reports Birmingham Live.

A closer look reveals a small £20 upfront fee no matter which option you choose, something other retailers also do. I compared the deal with similar unlimited data iPhone 15 contracts at Sky Mobile and O2 to see if it’s worth it. Let’s look at the numbers.

With the upfront fee, Giffgaff’s top iPhone15 deal totals £1,129 (£27.47 a month for a fixed 24-month iPhone 15 plan and 18 months of unlimited data at £25 a month).

O2 is the nearest in price at £51.07 each month (for the iPhone 15 and unlimited data) but its larger £30 upfront fee makes it more costly. Customers here also have to agree to a longer 36-month plan whereas giffgaff offers the same price for 24-months.

At first glance O2’s monthly price may seem cheaper, but it isn’t. In total, you’d pay over £300 more than giffgaff’s offer, that’s £1,473 altogether. The device plan is a reasonable £20.07 a month (on a 36-month plan) totalling £722.52, but then you have to add on the pricey 24-months of unlimited data – at £31 a month (which we think is steep).

Next, let’s look at Sky Mobile. You can get the iPhone 15 device for a cheaper £23 a month, but adding on the unlimited data SIM increases the price. In fact, you won’t actually find an unlimited data option, as it adds 250GB of monthly data for £30 a month.
