Gatineau transit authority cancels daily bus trips amid labour crunch

Gatineau’s transit authority says it is cancelling dozens of daily bus trips, including a number of routes heading across the river to Ottawa, amid a shortage of drivers.

The Société de transport de l’Outaouais (STO) posted a list of affected routes on its website, saying the cancellations were due to “labour issues.”

Sophie St-Pierre, director of the Société de transport de l’Outaouais (STO)’s customer experience department, said they announced the cancelled trips ahead of time “to make schedules more reliable for our customers.”

She added additional cancellations “can be added to this list due to labour issues, network incidents or mechanical breakdowns” and those cancellations will be communicated on the day they occur.
