“Engineered for blazing guitar work”: Jackson brings its Randy Rhoads model to the mid-priced Pro Plus series, with some electrifying finishes

Today, Fender and the brand names under its umbrella pulled the covers off a host of brand-new items. Among the FMIC branches with brand-new items to reveal is Jackson, who has actually brought the still-futuristic Randy Rhoads signature electrical guitar to its mid-price Pro Plus series.

Jackson states that the Pro Plus Series Rhoads RR24 is “crafted for blazing guitar work,” and with the tradition of its name which simple upper-fret gain access to, we do not question it.

Price-wise, the Pro Plus designs fall in between the MJ Rhoads and Pro Series Rhoads six-strings, with a handful of resemblances– and distinctions– to the latter.

Both Pro Plus designs are developed with okoume bodies and three-piece maple/walnut/maple necks– rather than the Pro Series’ mahogany bodies and easy maple necks– though the Pro Plus designs do maintain the latter’s ebony fingerboard (with an upgrade to stainless-steel stresses, mind.)

Like its Pro Series brother or sisters, the Pro Plus RR24s include a Seymour Duncan Distortion SH-6N humbucker in the neck, however they switch out the previous’s Duncan Distortion SH-6 bridge ‘bucker for a Duncan Distortion TB-6. These can be changed by specific volume and tone knobs, and a three-way pickup switch.

The Pro Plus RR24’s other repairings are likewise relatively comparable to those discovered on the basic Pro designs– dome-style Jackson Sealed Die-Cast tuners, a Floyd Rose 1000 Series double-locking tremolo, and those apparent sharkfin inlays.

It’s the surfaces, however, that truly make the Pro Plus Rhoads RR24s worth an appearance. Alternative one is an arena-ready Mirror surface, with a Firestorm-finished guitar (which includes a pomelle sapele top) likewise offered, at a somewhat lower cost.

Mentioning, the Mirror-finished Pro Plus Series Rhoads RR24 calls at $1,699, with its Firestorm-finished equivalent being available in at $1,599– a couple of hundred dollars north of the Pro Series Rhoads designs, however nearly a thousand south of those discovered in the more high end MJ Series.

In our book, the budget friendly X Series Rhoads is among the best metal guitars out there today, so we can’t wait to get our hands on the Pro Plus variation of the design.
