Edo Assembly begins impeachment proceedings against deputy gov, Shaibu

The Edo House of Assembly on Wednesday, started transfer to impeach the deputy guv, Mr Philip Shaibu.

The Majority Leader, Charity Aiguobarueghian (PDP, Ovia North-East 1), revealed the impeachment notification at plenary on Wednesday.

Aiguobarueghian stated a petition dated March 5 versus Shaibu was signed by 21 of the 24 members of the legislature.

He included that the petition was based upon perjury and the discovery of federal government’s tricks, keeping in mind that the variety of members who signed the petition was greater than the two-thirds constitutional requirement.

Speaker of your home, Blessing Agbebaku (PDP, Owan-West), acknowledged invoice of the petition.

He directed the Clerk of your house, Mr Yahaya Omogbai, to serve the impeachment notification on the deputy guv.
