Demi Moore’s favourite mood-lifting scent is perfect for beating Blue Monday

Demi Moore’s favourite mood-lifting scent is perfect for beating Blue Monday

Today is officially Blue Monday, the name traditionally given to the third Monday in January which was crowned ‘the most depressing day’ by Sky Travel back in 2005, and it’s said to be the day we all find the toughest to get through.

A combination of dark nights and mornings, freezing temperatures and trying to eke your pre-Christmas December paycheck out until the end of the month can all contribute to feeling a little lower than usual. However, just because it’s meant to be a gloomy day doesn’t mean it has to be, especially if you take little steps to make sure your day is off to a good start.

Demi Moore swears by Ilapothecary’s Beat the Blues room spray

If there’s one thing that’s guaranteed to boost your mood with minimal effort required its wearing an uplifting scent, and thanks to Demi Moore’s recommendation, we’ve got just the thing for a gloomy day like Blue Monday.

In a YouTube video for Harper’s Bazaar, Demi Moore shared her anti-ageing nighttime routine where she mentioned one particular scent that she swears by; Ilapothecary’s Beat the Blues Room Spray, £31 here.

Demi sprays the scent around her to create an uplifting mood

Demi said: “What I like to do before everything is actually spray this, which is called Beat the Blues and it’s like an aromatherapy piece… it actually changes the whole mood of everything. It’s a combination of tuberose, clary sage, a little bit of orange and it actually really does what it says it does. Like, it’s completely uplifting.”

Although we love the idea of giving our home a quick spritz in the morning to start our day right, we want to take the good vibes with us when we leave, which is why we’re thrilled Ilapothecary has now launched a brand new perfume version.

Ilapothecary now does its Beat the Blues scents as a perfume

Ilapothecary’s Beat the Blues The Essence, £75 here, uses the same blend of essential oils to help balance and revitalise your mood as you’re wearing it. It has ‘happiness-inducing’ clary sage, soothing and anti-inflammatory petitgrain, calming and stress-busting tuberose and antioxidant rose geranium, making it the perfect daily fragrance with a wellness twist

If you’re looking for a slightly lighter scent, the Sacred Mist Eau de Parfum, £68 here, from Kate Moss’ brand Cosmoss is also designed to be a holistic perfume that helps uplift, calm and balance you as you wear it. It has a spicy balance of oakmoss, cedarwood and tonka to lift you up, whilst the final notes of jasmine give a calming sensation.

It’s time to say goodbye to that dreary Blue Monday mood – we’re all about the good vibes (and scents) this January.
