Cop dies from motor vehicle mishap in St Andrew

An authorities constable passed away as an outcome of injuries he sustained when he was apparently struck by an automobile while on his motorbike at a traffic light along Weymouth Drive in St Andrew on Wednesday.

The deceased is Andrae Douglas, who was designated to the Cedar Valley Police Station in St Thomas.

Reports are that about 3pm, Douglas was driving a Jamco motorbike along the highway when, upon reaching the traffic light, he was struck by a Toyota Hiace minibus that had apparently ran the redlight.

Douglas sustained numerous injuries and was helped to the medical facility, where he passed away while going through treatment.

It is unclear whether the chauffeur of the Toyota Hiace has actually been collared.

The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF), on its social networks pages, revealed acknowledgements to Douglas’ household, good friends and coworkers.

“Please keep his household, buddies and (the) broader JCF in your prayers,” the force mentioned.

On social networks, relative and buddies were ravaged by the news of the young police officer’s death.

“Boy cuz (cousin), you leave mi heart heavy. A dream a might state this not genuine,” a female composed on Instagram.

“Dis harms like hell … among the genuine ones ,”another lady commented.
