Cat’s Unbelievable Haircut Seen 53M Times and Is Leaving People in ‘Tears’

A cat’s fresh, new hairdo has left viewers in tears as the unexpectedness of the cut is totally one-of-a-kind.

In a December 31 TikTok video posted to the account @gomeznotselena, the owner showed the haircut that the cat received. It was set to the perfect music—Titanic flute fail—symbolizing what was supposed to be a wonderful haircut ending in tragedy.

The text on the video reads: “Benny got a haircut…” and based on the ellipses, one could assume this is not what the owner was expecting or that anyone was expecting.

But one cat’s tragic haircut can be another person’s fortunate one as it brought laughter to the millions who watched, and hopefully made the owner smile as well. Luckily, Benny did not seem to mind as he strutted through the house, showing off the latest hair trend for cats.

Within two days of being posted, the video quickly went viral, receiving more than 53.4 million views, 6.7 million likes and over 70,000 comments. Viewers have been hysterical watching this video.

“I’m in genuine tears rn,” wrote a viewer.

Others are comparing this unrecognizable cat to different things. “I love your pet pipe cleaner omg,” commented one.

Another said: “Can’t explain but looks like a betta fish lol.” And now, users won’t be able to unsee that.

A third added: “He looks like how kids draw animals. I love him.”

Do Cats Need Haircuts?

Cats have a variety of different fur, depending on the breed. The sphinx cats are hairless and Rex breeds rarely shed. But Maine Coons and Persian cats have long, luscious locks. So what is an owner to do in terms of grooming?

All cats can benefit from regular brushing, according to VCA Animal Hospitals. The upkeep will help remove loose hairs and dead skin cells. It will also help keep their coats free of dirt, debris and external parasites. And those with especially long hair can use daily brushes to avoid tangled and matted messes.

It is not often that cats will need a haircut as most cats, even long-haired ones, cope with hot temperatures. However, long-haired cats will sometimes get mats too large to groom themselves. If this happens, they will benefit from getting shaved.
