Caroline Hu revealed a series of distinctive pieces in a shabby Paris home, whose dark, moody environment in some way balanced out the lineup’s flamboyance, its detailed execution and the vibrancy of printed surface areas. Generous plays of curtaining and layering made every production a fantastical, large existence, each taking great deals of area and attention. “It’s about relationships and keeping a range,” stated Hu rather cryptically.
Hu begins every collection from her oil paintings, which record individual sensations she then equates into fabrics and patterns; shapes are made straight on mannequins. This season the sensation was of having a hard time. “Lots is taking place worldwide now,” she stated. “Politics, the economy, whatever is harder, there’s darkness around me, so I wished to produce something to secure individuals from this darkness, developing a world of love and dream, due to the fact that life requires hope.”
Colors were intense and saturated, with flashes of black as a counterpoint; smocked silk and tiered tulle, classic crocheted lace and plastic lanyards, overlays of beaded and sequined silks were layered and curtained into abstract, creative shapes– some lean and liquid, some billowy and airy, some large. A standout was a mixture of backyards of black tulle suspended over a bulging crinoline made from inflatable pillows, printed in brilliant colors of green and pink, then appliquéd with round-shaped sequined rosettes. Artistic and creative, Hu’s developments appeared substantiated of spontaneous, psychological gestures became appeal and dream.
