Saskatchewan’s Jess Moskaluke is set to hit the country radio waves on Christmas Day with her latest single, Go Get Er.

“I love being able to share a piece of myself through the art of songwriting and it’s rare for songs that I didn’t write to completely resonate with me, but the minute I heard ‘Go Get Er’ I knew it needed to be on the record,” Moskaluke said in a media release. “Having the opportunity to be the voice on this track, and scream to the world that your partner should be just that — a partner — was one I couldn’t pass up.

“Playing on traditional gender roles and the expectations historically placed on women, ‘Go Get Er’ is a welcome reminder that we all get to set the standard for our own relationships. Like I sing in the song, ‘If that’s the kinda girl you need, there’s nothing wrong to want what you want, but baby that’ll never be me.’”

Regina’s Synthetik Blonde has a new video to accompany one of its latest songs, Dreams of You.

The alternative-pop duo — comprising Stefani Kleppe and Brad Evanochko — released their sophomore album, Pieces, this past summer.

Dreams of You is the first single from that record.

According to a media release, the track “dives headfirst into the dangerous, thrilling appeal of obsessive love — and the emotional fallout that stems from it.”

The accompanying video was produced by Regina filmmaker Aaron Sinclair, who helped Synthetik Blonde “put together a visual concept that captures the pure, unadulterated melodrama of classic ‘80s music videos and movies. Inspired by pop royalty Michael Jackson, Bonnie Tyler, and Madonna, the resulting music video is both dreamy and kinetic, perfectly capturing the spirit of the song.”

On Cue Performance Hub is sending out a call for local artists to be part of Regina’s first Winter Femme Fest from March 6 to 9 (location TBA) in conjunction with International Women’s Day on March 8.

The culturally inclusive event is intended to spotlight local female and gender-diverse performance artists.

Participation is open to individuals and groups who identify as female or non-binary and work in a performance field such as dance, film, music, theatre, spoken word poetry, stand-up comedy, or storytelling.

Artists are invited to submit proposals for new or previous projects which can be presented in the form of a 20- to 30-minute performance. All artists are to be compensated at a “professional rate appropriate to their performative disciplines.”

On Cue’s mandate is to help create opportunities for emerging and historically underserved artists. Therefore, proposals are encouraged from those who identify as Indigenous, racialized, newcomers, Deaf, or disabled.

Submissions will be accepted until midnight on Dec. 31. Successful applicants are to be contacted by Jan. 8, 2024.
