Fresh snowfall closed the north and south entryways of the Atal Tunnel on the Manali-Leh highway, triggering traffic congestion in the instructions of Keylong in Lahaul and the Spiti district north of the Solang valley near Manali.

Travelers throng hills

In the meantime, a large increase of travelers from Manali came down upon the Solang valley to take part in snow activities. The cops blocked traffic circulation beyond the Solang valley towards Keylong for the sake of public security. An overall of 172 roadways, consisting of 4 National Highways, were closed for car traffic in the state on Saturday night according to the information of the state emergency situation operation centre. The majority of these roadways remain in hard surface in Lahaul and Spiti, where 157 roadways are still to be opened.

22 cm of snow

Moderate snowfall continued in greater reaches and tribal locations of Himachal Pradesh in the previous 24 hours while extensive rains lashed middle and low hills, the weather condition workplace stated on March 31. The regional MeT workplace forecasted a damp spell in the state till April 6 disallowing April 1. Gondla in tribal Lahaul and Spiti district got 22 cm of snow followed by Kukumseri 11.6 cm, Keylong 7.5 cm and Kalpa 5.5 cm while hail was taped in parts of Sundernagar, Shimla and Solan.
