Ice-starved residents didn’t let the mild weather take away their fun on Christmas Eve.

The popular rink near City Hall did big business Sunday, despite temperatures flirting with 0 C and warnings of possible freezing rain.

Whole families wandered across the ice with various levels of professionalism. Beavertail purveyors had big smiles.

The weather looks like more of the same for the next few days, with Environment Canada expecting highs of about 5 C and possible showers Tuesday and Wednesday.

Thursday is expected to bring snow.

The Rink of Dreams is on ‘Winter break’ modified hours so check ahead to make sure you don’t miss anything.:

But, what about the Rideau Canal?

Officials at the National Capital Commission urged residents to wish for 10 consecutive days of -10 C weather.
