School fees for all national schools to be paid via e-citizen – Government orders

The instruction which was interacted through a communique resolved to all principals of nationwide schools on January 31, 2024 remains in line with the federal government’s effort to simplify payment procedures under the typical pay expense number 222222.

The memo resolved to all Principals of nationwide schools directed them to send the organizations’ checking account for the functions of onboarding so that school charges payments for students in nationwide schools can be done through the eCitizen platform for charge payments.

“The directorate of e-Citizen, in cooperation with the Information Communication Technology Authority (ICTA), Ministry of Information, Communication and the Digital Economy, and the National Treasury, is collaborating the onboarding of all federal government services onto the eCitizen platform to boost service shipment,” checks out the memo signed by Basic Education Principal Secretary Belio Kipsang in part.

“As part of compliance with the requirements it is directed that parents/guardians make cost payments for their students in your organizations through this platform.” Included the circular.

Information needed and due date

School heads are needed to send information of all accounts held by the organizations through which cost payments are made detailing the Bank, Account Number, Bank Code and Branch Code before February 6, 2024.

“Please guarantee that the previously mentioned info is sent to the Office of the Director General, State Department for Basic Education not behind February 6, 2024, on e-mail dg@education.go.ke and copy to sa.basic@education.go.ke.” Included the circular.

When all procedures are up and running, moms and dads will be recommended on how to pay charges.

Reports show that while the present stage is just targeting nationwide schools, it will function as a pilot which if effective, will see all school costs payments made through the e-citizen platform.

A variety of payments for federal government services have actually relocated to the e-citizen platform with President William Ruto keeping that combining the payments to one paybill number will weed out graft.
