Taylor Swift represented 1.79 percent of U.S. on-demand streams in a record year for worldwide streaming, the information company Luminate reports in its 2023 roundup. Swift’s supremacy– which equates to approximately one in 78 of all on-demand U.S. streams– comes as English-language music streams stopped by 10 percent internationally, according to the report.
In the United States, Afrobeats, K-pop, and Latin music were the fastest-growing categories, each ballooning by more than a 5th. The overall variety of audio and video streams all over the world grew by a 3rd, crossing the 4 trillion mark for the very first time.
Within the United States, the fairly young version of local Mexican music revealed the swiftest growth of any subcategory, with 60 percent development driven by listeners on the West Coast and in the Southwest. Hip-hop stays the greatest streaming category in the States, though streams classified as existing R&B/ hip-hop fell by 7 percent while brochure streams grew by 11 percent.
