Tilbury Douglas and Caddick make director appointments

Phil Shaw

Two major contractors have appointed new managing directors to regional divisions.

Tilbury Douglas has named Phil Shaw as managing director of its Building North unit, while appointing Martin Horne to regional director for the North West.

Meanwhile, Simon Martin became managing director of Caddick Civil Engineering.

Shaw started his career at Tilbury Douglas in the 1990s, serving throughout the two decades that it was part of Interserve and most recently being divisional director of the North West during the rebirth of the original company.

He replaces John Gittins, who moves across to a centralised role supporting development of the national team.

Horne was most recently construction director at Bam UK & Ireland, and has spent more than 30 years in the industry.

Tilbury Douglas chief operating officer Craig Tatton said: “I would like to congratulate Phil and John on their new roles and welcome Martin to the business.

“I look forward to our continued success in the North West and the North as we further grow our presence nationwide in the future.”

Meanwhile, Caddick Construction Group appointed Simon Martin to lead its civils business, which is keen to expand across the North and Midlands.

He joins the company following 18 years as group business development director at Durham-based MGL Group, where he helped win a major contract on the delivery of the huge SeAH Wind monopile factory on Teesside.

Martin said: “I am very excited about this new chapter in my career and to be entrusted with the incredible opportunity to grow Caddick Civil Engineering.

“Our growth will be organic and sustainable as we expand our availability to key clients in targeted regions where there is appetite for a solid, financially stable and expert civil engineering partner to work alongside both our colleagues at Caddick Construction and the wider industry.”
