ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP)– After lithium-ion batteries burned in a big freight ship’s hold for a variety of days, the U.S. Coast Guard stated late Saturday that the fire was out and directed the ship to anchor near Dutch Harbor, Alaska.
The 19 team members of the ship, Genius Star XI, were unimpaired and service technicians from the Salvage and Marine Firefighting group stay onboard to guarantee the fire does not return, according to a Coast Guard news release.
