Usher And H.E.R. Share Intimate “Risk It All” Video: Watch

Usher and H.E.R. released one of the illest ballads of the year with their sensual duet, “Risk It All,” and the Dave Meyers-directed video only added to the enchanting nature of the record.

As the two sing, “I don’t mind/ Feelin’ like I’m bound to fall (Oh, baby)/ Baby, I close my eyes/ Baby, I would risk it all, oh, oh (Ooh, I)/ I don’t mind/ Feelin’ like I’m bound to fall/ Oh, close my eyes/ Baby, I would risk it all/ Oh, just to be in love,” a series of scantily clad dancers get lost within the embrace of their partner and the sea of melanin.

The captivating visual perfectly represents the song’s impassioned lyricism and velvety melody as Usher and H.E.R. sing of what falling in love feels and looks like. Written by H.E.R. and Jimmy Napes, the record encapsulates that raw emotion and highlights the themes of risk, love, and freedom seen in The Color Purple.

“A special thank U to @hermusicofficial …U produced and co-wrote such a beautiful record. Appreciate U for blessing this video with all of your greatness,” wrote the 45-year-old on Instagram when promoting the new single.

The song heralds from the film’s soundtrack and will also appear on Ursher’s new album, Coming Home. This is the second single from both.

The soundtrack, which is out now, kicked off with Alicia Keys’ “Lifeline” and includes songs from the musical reimagining as well as original music from Megan Thee Stallion, October London, Jorja Smith, Keyshia Cole, Mary J. Blige and its leading cast, Fantasia, Danielle Brooks, Taraji P. Henson, Phylicia Pearl Mpasi, Halle Bailey, and Corey Hawkins.

Coming Home will arrive on Feb. 11, the same day as Usher’s Super Bowl LVIII Halftime Performance.
