FORT MYERS, Fla. (AP)– A 6-year-old kid who left on a flight for the Christmas vacation to visit his grandma in southwest Florida rather was placed on the incorrect airplane and wound up 160 miles away in Orlando, Florida.

When the grandma, Maria Ramos, appeared on Thursday at Southwest Florida International Airport in Fort Myers to welcome her grand son who was flying for the very first time from Philadelphia, she was informed he wasn’t on the Spirit Airlines flight.

“I ran inside the airplane to the flight attendant and I asked her, ‘Where’s my grand son? He was turned over to you at Philadelphia?’ She stated, ‘No, I had no kids with me,'” Ramos informed WINK News.

She then got a call from her grand son from the airport in Orlando, informing her that he had actually landed.

In a declaration, Spirit Airlines stated the kid was under the care and guidance of an airline companies staff member the whole time, despite the fact that he was improperly boarded on a flight to Orlando. As soon as the error was found, the airline companies let the household understand, the declaration stated.

“We take the security and duty of transferring all of our Guests seriously and are performing an internal examination,” the declaration stated. “We say sorry to the household for this experience.”
