On March 2, Fudan University’s Natural Language Processing Laboratory (FudanNLP) released the AI-based app Hearing the World, which is developed for aesthetically impaired people as a smart life assistant. Built on the multi-modal design Fudan MouSi, the app combines a single cam with earphones to change images into audio for different situations and signals. The Hearing the World app provides 3 modes: Street Navigation, Free Inquiry (expedition of areas such as museums, art galleries, and parks), and Object Finder. In March, the app will finish its preliminary of screening and launch pilot programs in significant cities throughout China, according to the group.[[Fudan University, in Chinese]
