Man, 18, faces numerous charges after firearm found in crashed vehicle

An 18-year-old man faces a number of charges after police recovered a firearm at a car crash early Tuesday.

Police said in a release the single-car crash occurred at about 1:15 a.m. Tuesday at the intersection of Baseline and Cobden roads.

Witnesses reported they saw the driver attempting to flee on foot.

A search of the crashed vehicle turned up an unidentified firearm.

The suspect faces five weapons-related charges, along with a drug possession charge and dangerous operation of a vehicle.

He appeared in court on Tuesday and remains in custody.
