From a mom cat disciplining her grown-up kitten for acting up, to a giant schnauzer’s adorable reaction to meeting a miniature version of the breed, there has been plenty of heartwarming and hilarious pet content online this week.
As well as viral animal favorites, we’ve also had plenty of adorable submissions for our weekly Newsweek Pet of the Week.
If you want your pet to be part of next week’s Pet of the Week line-up, remember to follow the instructions at the end of this story to find out how.
Winner
This week’s winner is Sasha, a 4-year-old Pomeranian who loves to chat.
“Sasha is the best lap dog you could ever ask for,” said owner Heather Petersen.
In a video Sasha delightfully started talking back to her owner, showing her personality and seemingly responding to every question.
It isn’t the only time that her vocal skills get an outing, either. “Sasha also loves to pick up her sister—my daughter—from school. She gets so excited that she often times turns part wolf. When we talk to Sasha about doing any of her favorite things she will let us know by howling,” Petersen said.
When she isn’t making conversation, Sasha loves cuddles and following her owner around the house.
Finalists
Our first finalist this week is chihuahua mixes who are owner Grant Kolling’s best friends.
Coby, aged 11, and Junior, 15, are a big part of their owner’s life. Living in California, they all take a walk three times a day, morning, afternoon and night.
They also have an adventurous streak. “For the past three years our favorite activity has been camping in Northern and Central California,” Kolling said.
“During a trip to the Tahoe National Forest this year, we encountered a black bear that drank water from their bowl, placed one foot from my head outside our shelter,” he said.
This year they also got to experience their first snow on a trip to the Dodge Ridge resort in Pinecrest.
Next up this week is Willow, a Yorkie and Chihuahua mix who lives with owner Diane Labelle in Canada.
“His favorite thing is chasing squirrels,” Labelle told Newsweek. “I love his gracefulness and smartness and his beautiful face.”
Last but not least this week are three adorable dogs who live with their family in New Jersey.
Emma, Luna and Dexter live with the Utley family. John Utley told Newsweek: “My favorite thing about the pups is the additional love that they have brought to our already loving family.”
Luna and Dexter are almost a year old, and Emma is about to turn 2.
All three love toys, food and making plenty of noise barking.
