Whilst Marvel has been struggling in the film arena of late, on TV its had more recent successes.

The second seasons of “Loki” and “What If?” drew acclaim, the limited series “Echo” went better than expected, and this year it has seen great success with the launch of “X-Men ’97”.

The animated series revival of the iconic 1990s show has drawn glowing reviews across the board, some of the best of the year for any show in fact, and bodes well for Marvel’s future animated show plans.

Brad Winderbaum, the Head of Streaming, Television, and Animation at Marvel Studios, has now spoken about some of those plans in a new IGN interview where he says the company’s upcoming “Marvel’s Zombies” show will be one made for mature audiences:

“In terms of more mature animation, yeah, we’re making a ‘Marvel Zombies’ show right now that is pretty intense. That’s for sure a TV-MA show. And again, it’s trying to honor the comics. And what was so great about the comics was it’s not pulling its punches. That’s certainly what we’re going for on that project also.”

In a separate interview with Men’s Health, he also spoke about the “Eyes of Wakanda” series and says that it, more than any other animated series they have in the works, ties heavily into MCU continuity:

““We’re exploring so many amazing avenues on the animated side. ‘Eyes of Wakanda,’ more than any other show, fits right into our sacred MCU timeline continuity. [‘Black Panther’ director Ryan Coogler] is a producer on it, Todd Harris is one of our long-time storyboard artists who directs it. It’s about Wakandan history and mythology, and it’s really cool. It looks amazing. And it feels like, ‘Okay I’m getting an animated look into the MCU.’”

A third season of “What If?” and the new series “Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man” are in the works.
